Quoto CalibroPreview · November 2026

The drawing read and checked before the quote.

For machine shops that work from drawings. Calibro reads the drawing line by line, measures the 3D model, lists the operations the part requires and, with your machines and your rates, proposes routing, hours and price per batch. Whatever the drawing does not say is flagged for review, never invented.

From drawing to quote

In short

Quoto Calibro is the Quoto by Talykon module for contract machine shops. It receives requests with PDF and STEP drawings, reads material, stock, treatments, tolerances and batches quoting the sentence of the drawing each item comes from, measures the 3D model, lists the operations and, with the shop's parameters, proposes the routing and hours per phase. The price comes out per batch and the technician approves it. In preview since November 2026: the trial on one of your drawings is free.

What Calibro reads

Every item with the sentence of the drawing it comes from.

This is the kind of sheet Calibro produces from a PDF drawing. The example is illustrative, not a real drawing: it shows what is read, how it is quoted and how missing data is flagged.

How it works

Five steps, two of which are yours.

  1. 1

    The request arrives

From the mailbox or uploaded by hand: PDF drawings, STEP models, customer notes. Every document stays tied to its revision.

  2. 2

    The drawing is read

Material, stock (bar, forging, casting, tube, welded), treatments, revision, critical tolerances and roughness, quantities and batches, outsourced operations. Every item quotes the drawing text.

  3. 3

    The 3D model is measured

From STEP: part type, diameters, holes, pockets, faces to machine and minimum setups, volume, weight of finished part and stock. Assemblies too: one screw times three is one line.

  4. 4

Routing and hours with your parameters

Machines, labour, materials, treatments, shop rules, approved similar parts and, if present, the time from the CAM program. Calibro proposes phases, setup and hours per phase labelled certain, to confirm, not estimable.

  5. 5

The technician approves, Quoto does the rest

The price for 1, 5, 20 and 100 parts is approved by a person. From there the PDF quote with your logo, sending from your mailbox, follow-up and history per customer: that is Quoto. The technician's corrections are learned, for your shop only.

The rules

Three things Calibro never does.

Written in the code before the promises.

It does not invent

A cost, time, material or tolerance it cannot find stays «to review» or «not estimable». A reading with no match in the drawing text is discarded.

It does not send

No quote leaves without the explicit approval of an authorised person. A proposed price is not an approved price.

It does not learn from your drawings for others

Your technician's corrections apply to your shop. Your customers' drawings train nothing for anyone else.

What changes on the shop floor

TodayWith Quoto Calibro

Reading the drawing

The technician reads, copies, looks for a similar drawing when there is a free hour.Read line by line quoting the text; doubts flagged, not invented.

Stock and outsourced work

Lost among the notes, discovered in production or on the invoice.Recognised and highlighted before the price.

Routing

From memory, different from person to person. From your rules, approved similar parts and CAM, the same every time.

Response time

Days, when the technician is free. The reading is ready when the technician sits down: the order does not go to whoever answers later.

After the price

Email, Excel, no history.PDF quote, sent from your mailbox, follow-up and history per customer.
The alternatives

Compared with how it is done today.

Five ways to quote from a drawing, read on the same criteria. The full comparison, with products and public prices as of the date we read them, is on the blog (in Italian).

None of these, Calibro included, gives a reliable price without the shop's rates.

Who it is for

  • Contract machine shops with CNC lathes and machining centres.
  • Shops receiving requests with PDF drawings, sometimes STEP, quoting single parts and small to medium batches.
  • Shops with rates, machines and treatments already defined, even if only in the technician's head.
  • Shops that want the quote, after the price, to leave from their own mailbox and be followed up.

Who it is not for, today

  • Sheet metal, laser and bending: outside the first version.
  • Anyone looking for an automatic price from any drawing without providing their own parameters.
  • Anyone who wants the software to send offers on its own, without a person approving.

The trial

Send us a drawing, we send it back read.

Free and with no commitment: within two working days you receive a PDF with the drawing read line by line, the 3D measurements, operations and setups, the material weight and, if something is missing from the drawing, the draft email for your customer.

1. One drawing

Write to leonardo.casini@talykon.com with 1–3 PDFs of parts you quote often, and STEP if you have it.

2. The reading PDF

Within two working days. You can check every item against your drawing.

3. With your numbers

If you give us machines and rates, within a day we add hours and price per batch.

We use the files for nothing else and delete them after 30 days; NDA on request, before you send anything.

Frequently asked questions about Quoto Calibro

No. Material, stock, treatments, tolerances, batches and notes are read from the PDF. STEP adds measurements, minimum setups and the weight of part and stock.

No, and nobody can do that seriously: the price depends on your machines, hourly cost, material and method. Calibro reads and sets up; hours and price come with your parameters and the technician's approval.

It is flagged for review and Calibro drafts the email to ask your customer. It is never filled with a guess.

From your rules, approved similar parts, the CAM program if present, and the technician. The AI proposes setup and time for a phase only when an approved similar part with that operation exists; otherwise it is not called at all.

They stay yours: they never train models for others, they are deleted after 30 days if you do not become a customer, and we sign an NDA first if you ask.

The reading sheet for your first drawing is free. Then there is a 30-day pilot at €277 one-off, with your shop set up by us, deducted from the first year. The subscription costs €299 per month (Calibro, up to 3 users) or €499 per month (Calibro Pro, unlimited users), excluding VAT; yearly billing has 2 months free. Prices valid from 2 November 2026.

No. Calibro lives inside Quoto, which works alongside the ERP you have: it exports lines and quotes and, where the system allows, connects to it.

The quote comes out of Quoto: a PDF with your logo, sent from your mailbox, with follow-up and history per customer.
